Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology

Overview MO-SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital – Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) or nurse to support the IVR team at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Job Summary The RN plans, coordinates, and implements care for adult patients in the Interventional Radiology department. The RN ensures quality care is delivered efficiently and safely, consistent with the unit’s standards of care. Responsibilities Serve on the Interventional Radiology procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor. Prepare patients correctly for the procedure. Ensure timely availability of patient information such as history and physical (H&P). Utilize critical judgment to analyze patient assessment and administer medications, including to critically ill patients. Report abnormal findings to the physician promptly. Perform hemostasis safely and properly with or without vascular devices. Enter and check patient orders and charges for accuracy. Provide care for critically ill patients, functioning independently in stressful situations. Educate patients and families based on assessed needs, documenting education and keeping them informed of tests and treatments. Provide clear perioperative instructions to patients. Escort families to the cardiology area or cath lab area as needed. Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing. • No prior experience required. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech to share information via oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running. Professional Licensure & Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration (or issued by Compact State). Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced Life Support (ALS) – American Heart Association (AHA). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (AHA). Work Shift & Hours Variable shift schedule (Monday through Friday with some weekday call and rotating weekend call).
