Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Department of Human Resources commits to the creation of a collaborative and responsive university by attracting, retaining, and developing a community of talented individuals in support of the university’s mission. The Department is dedicated to providing state‑of‑the‑art employee services including talent management, professional development and organizational capacity, compensation, employee benefits, wellness and work/life balance, rewards and recognition, records management, employee relations, and human resource information systems. The Department of Human Resources is responsible for the core HR functions for the approximately 3500 employees at the University including administrators, faculty, professional staff and non‑exempt employees. The Talent Acquisition unit provides recruitment, selection and compensation consultation and services to campus and community customers. Position Summary The Talent Acquisition Consultant provides professional consultation in recruitment needs, job posting analysis/evaluation/reviewing for staff (SHRA, EHRA Non Faculty and Faculty); Talent Acquisition services to administrators, hiring managers, and other campus customers. This position will conduct recruitment consultation and postings review/analysis associated existing vacant positions, communicate and promote human resources procedural best practices and provides consultation to campus as well as external stakeholders to support the university in achieving stated goals and objectives. Talent Consultant follows established guidelines, in one or more human resources functional areas such as: benefits administration; career planning; classification; compensation; Onboarding. The Consultant may be required to adapt procedures to address changing situations, needs and/or deadlines. Provide recruiting services for the staff positions in assigned UNCG departments. Develop recruiting sources, applicant pools and screen and refer qualified applicants. Finalize the recruitment process by making job offers, preparing appointment letters and assisting with the onboarding process. Work involves developing and maintaining productive and collaborative work relationships and assessing and responding to client needs. Using a variety of specialized state‑of‑the‑art technological systems and processes, employees identify, collect, format, organize and process data and information that support HR programs, make decisions within policy guidelines; communicate policies, procedures and guidelines; evaluate patterns and recommend options. Talent Consultants are expected to maintain confidentiality of all information. Work is performed under general to limited supervision. Work may include supervising others, conducting training and/or administering a human resources program(s). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience related to recruitment process for a variety of positions; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong analytical skills, combined with effective verbal and written communication skills, are essential. Demonstrated consultative and negotiation skills are also essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel is essential. Prior, or current, experience with HR information systems, such as PeopleAdmin, Banner HR or other comparable HRIS systems is strongly preferred. Recruitment Range $55,323 – $58,801 Org # - Department Human Resources - 58401 Job Open Date 05/05/2026 Open Until Filled Yes FTE 1.000 Type of Appointment Permanent Number of Months per Year 12 FLSA Exempt Percentage Of Time 30% Key Responsibility Consultation – Advises campus and HR partners on Recruitment, hiring, and onboarding matters. Essential Tasks Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with hiring officials. Assist departments in developing job posting(s); consult on job advertising needs; develop recruiting sources (i.e., LinkedIn, professional job boards, etc.). Interprets policies, procedures and best practices and explain how they are applied within the context of Recruitment, interviewing, selection and onboarding. Collaborates with customers and internal team to resolve unique and/or sensitive issues and often requires researching and developing several options for successfully addressing campus partners in recruitment needs. Obtains position comparisons internally for equity issues. Makes suggestions to department heads regarding improving recruitment strategies, postings reviews and recommendations for maximum organizational effectiveness. Consults with Talent Acquisition Manager, Classification and Compensation Manager and team and/or CHRO when necessary on unprecedented requests. Enhances the level of understanding and awareness of opportunities and techniques for designing effective job postings with administrators, faculty, and staff through one‑on‑one consultation, group discussion, workshops, and presentations. Assists other team members on recruitment activities as well as compensation issues arising from a recruitment action. Expected to act independently and be knowledgeable of the State Recruitment, selection and employment, its processes and procedures. Key Responsibility Compensation Analysis for selection – Performs market and equity analysis of positions to assess salaries and proactively addresses equity or compression issues. Essential Tasks Analyzes the selected applicants and compare market competitiveness and salary range updates where applicable. Advise and consult with departments on HR policies and practices in regards to recruitment processes, equity or compression issues, and salary negotiations. Key Responsibility Referral and selection of qualified candidates for employment – Employment Offers-manage salary negotiations Essential Tasks Screen and refer best qualified candidates for SHRA positions, stays up to date on RIF employees and priority employment; consults and assist departments with crafting interview questions and review selected questions; assist in developing and evaluating work samples; review selection criteria and justification for selection/non‑selection on candidates; communicating with candidates on application processes; responding to questions from candidates on their recruitment status; assist departments in preparing hiring proposals and reviews, complete compensation analysis approve and finalize completed proposals; and ensure candidates receive information on their status in the search process, reviewing and updating automated responses as needed. Communicate offers of employment to candidates or assist departments in making offers to selected candidates; manage negotiations communicating with the Talent Acquisition Manager, Class and Comp Consultants, or other HR staff as needed; prepare and makes final offers of employment, prepares and sends appointment letters and onboarding communications including detail instructions on New Employee Orientation, I‑9 completion, start date, benefits, etc. Key Responsibility Training – Develops and facilitates ongoing campus/HR partners training on recruitment, Job Fairs, interviewing and selection policies and practices and necessary compliance to reduce risk. Essential Tasks Presents educational information to staff and outside vendors concerning recruitment, interviewing and selection program materials that deliver a meaningful and compelling message to clients. Conducts educational and staff development needs assessment and develops educational materials and plans to meet individual, work unit and organizational goals. Designs, develop and present training to departmental staff on recruiting processes including the use of Spartan Talent (People Admin). Actively participate and search for new ways to promote recruitment needs in local job/career fairs; develop partnerships in the local community, promotes UNCG as an employer in the Triad area. Key Responsibility Reporting Essential Tasks Prepare compensation log for CHRO to track metrics on salary changes due to internal or intra‑system hires and for Salary reports; update and maintain recruitment metrics such as days to fill, recruitment source reports; and other reports as needed. Uses resources such as Data Mart for salary compensation analysis/reporting for internal equity issues and compression.
