Accounting Assistant

Roetzel & Andress LPA , a multi-state law firm with an administrative center in Fairlawn, Ohio, has an immediate opening for a full-time Accounting Assistant to support the Accounting Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Apply incoming payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to client accounts and invoices in accordance with firm policies and procedures.
• Reconcile daily cash receipts and investigate discrepancies in payment applications.
• Coordinate with clients, attorneys and team members regarding payment details, remittance information, unapplied or misapplied payments and ensure proper account adjustments
• Respond timely and accurately to client and team member questions/requests within the firm's ticketing system.
• Process client account adjustments
• Reconcile client accounts
• Prepare and send daily financial reports
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cash application workflows.
• Assist with other accounting tasks, as needed.

Education and Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience in 3E, Elite, Aderant, or similar legal software applications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong integrity and commitment to confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.
