Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) position is located in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced emergency department, treating a variable patient population with conditions such as traumas, STEMI, strokes, motor vehicle accidents, and occupational injuries. The selected candidate must have a Michigan license and is required to bring it on the first day of orientation.

Job Details:

• Location: Iron Mountain, MI
• Certifications Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (AHA), Basic Life Support (AHA), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Required Qualifications: Licensure with Michigan License, Certifications listed above, minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience, required to have at least 2 years of ED experience.
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts with start times at 7:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 3:00 PM; minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Experience or 'Must Have' Skills: Two years of Emergency Department experience; suitability for duos and first-time travelers.
• Patient Volume and Ratios: The department treats approximately 40-60 patients daily, with patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:3-4 during daytime hours, increasing night shifts and reducing to 2 RN staff after 3:00 AM until 7:00 AM.
• Common Diagnoses/Patient Types: Variable, including traumas, STEMI, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and occupational injuries (farmers).
• Additional Responsibilities: RN staff are expected to independently read their own telemetry strips; perform bedside assessments; assist with ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs.
• Supervision & Staffing: The charge nurse may take assignments; staff includes nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters. RT services are available 24/7, and phlebotomy services are available around the clock.
• Imaging and Labs: X-ray services are available 24/7 within the department; CT scans are accessible nearby.
• Orientation: Computer-based training, two days of floor orientation (including policy review and department-specific training).
• Shift Details: Managed by the supervisor to rotate start times, with a preference to avoid patterning of single-on, single-off shifts.
• Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend, with a minimum of two holiday shifts during winter as needed.
• Additional Notes: Volunteers may go home without pay; inpatient floating is allowed for assisting with patient care needs; scrubs are any solid, professional-colored attire.
• Submission Note: Candidates must note if they have previously worked for Marshfield; if so, their end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission.
