Make a meaningful impact in the classroom by providing essential support as a paraprofessional working 1:1 with an 8th-grade student. This rewarding contract position offers the chance to work closely with dedicated educators within a supportive school environment near Waterbury, CT. The assignment is set to run from now through June 11, with hours from 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM and a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day.
Key Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with students, especially those exhibiting behavioral needs, is highly desirable
- Familiarity with implementing individualized strategies as directed by educators
- Willingness and ability to complete required state trainings
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability in busy school settings
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education is a plus)
- Reliability and professionalism are essential
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support, encouragement, and structure to an assigned 8th-grade student throughout the school day
- Assist the student with classwork, transitions, and behavioral support as guided by teachers and specialists
- Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of student progress and daily activities when needed
- Collaborate with educators, specialists, and other paraprofessionals to foster a positive, inclusive environment
- Contribute to the student's sense of belonging and engagement in both academic and social settings
