Videographer and Social Media Coordinator (Social Media Specialist)

Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of over 100 full‑time staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military Personnel, and other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses. We are looking for a creative, versatile communicator who can bring stories to life through video and social media. The Videographer and Social Media Coordinator will shoot and edit compelling video content, manage our social media presence across multiple platforms, and lead a small team of student ambassadors to support content creation. This role blends hands‑on creative production with strategic digital communications, helping us engage prospective students and their families, strengthen the admissions brand, and showcase what makes IU Indianapolis stand out. Department‑Specific Responsibilities Plans, shoots, and edits high‑quality video content for web, social, and event use Collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify story opportunities and ensure videos align with brand and messaging goals Manages video assets, including archiving, captioning, and adapting content for different platforms Leads day‑to‑day management of official social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) Develops and implements content calendars that align with organizational goals and audience interests Tracks performance analytics, providing insights and recommendations for growth and engagement Stays on top of trends, tools, and best practices to keep content fresh and relevant Recruits, trains, and mentors student ambassadors who assist with social content creation Provides creative direction, feedback, and support to ensure student‑generated content aligns with brand standards General Responsibilities Develops and updates social media content and monitors brand’s social networks, responding to comments and collecting feedback from audiences Creates comprehensive plans for social media engagement, including conducting market research to identify social media sites preferred by target audiences, types of posts, and peak engagement posting times Evaluates effectiveness of social media on a variety of metrics, such as changes in website traffic, attendance at social media‑marketed events, and engagement by platform, audience, and type of post Regularly consults with staff, faculty, colleagues, departments, and other stakeholders to curate social media content to specific programs, goals, audiences, and objectives Ensures alignment with university mission, strategies, objectives, and brand guidelines across all social media platforms and content May provide guidance to social media assistants Education (Required) Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field Education (Preferred) Additional coursework or degree beyond the minimum required Work Experience (Required) Experience shooting and editing video Motion graphics or animation experience Graphic design experience Leadership experience, particularly mentoring or supervising students/interns Skills (Required) Proficient written and verbal communication skills Maintains a high degree of professionalism Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty Skills (Preferred) Familiarity with higher education, nonprofit, or mission‑driven communications Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and analytics Proficiency with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar) Benefits Comprehensive medical and dental insurance Health savings account with generous IU contributions Healthcare and dependent care flexible spending accounts Basic group life insurance paid by IU Voluntary supplemental life, long‑term disability, critical illness, and supplemental accidental death & dismemberment insurance Base retirement plan with generous IU contributions, subject to vesting Voluntary supplemental retirement plan options Tuition subsidy for employees and family members taking IU courses 10 paid holidays plus a paid winter break each year Generous paid time off plans Paid leave for new parents and IU‑sponsored volunteer events Employee assistance program (EAP) Location: Indianapolis, Indiana Salary: $45,000.00 – $49,000.00 annually Indiana University is an equal opportunity employer and provider of ADA services and prohibits discrimination in hiring.
