Surgery Scheduler

Under the direction of the Medical Practice Manager, the Surgery Scheduler performs surgery scheduling and various routine clerical tasks. The Surgery Scheduler oversees insurance inquiries; performs pre‑admission reviews and explains deductible and payments if necessary; schedules surgery time with hospital and schedules physical before surgery date. Works closely with Office Manager and other members of the office to trouble‑shoot and resolve problems, maintains positive relationships with patients, family members and other visitors, and fellow employees. Required Skills Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology and procedures Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and CPT coding systems. Strong knowledge of computers and computerized practice management systems and other computerized systems (Microsoft office programs and electronic health records systems). Demonstrates good telephone management skills. Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills Must be able to manage multiple tasks with interruption and able to multi‑task Critical thinking, the ability to identify problems, good solving skills to resolve them in a timely manner Use of customer service principles and practices Good English communication skills and ability to communicate effectively Excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading, editing and composition skills Demonstrates effective communication skills, bilingual helpful. Required Experience Required Must have knowledge of insurance, HMO procedures & medical terminology Experience with ICD-10 CM & CPT coding systems Ability to maintain composure & balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
