We are looking for a PT Payroll Specialist to support biweekly payroll operations for a growing organization. This long-term contract position is ideal for a payroll specialist who can manage accurate processing, stay current with multi-state payroll regulations, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders. The role will focus primarily on payroll administration, with heavier involvement during payroll weeks and auditing and follow-up work during off weeks. This opportunity offers flexible part-time scheduling while playing a key role in maintaining timely and compliant payroll practices.

Responsibilities:
• Administer biweekly payroll for a workforce of nearly 300 employees, ensuring all earnings, deductions, and adjustments are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Review timecards, follow up on missing approvals, and coordinate with managers to resolve outstanding items before payroll submission deadlines.
• Audit payroll records during non-processing weeks to identify discrepancies, update employee status changes, and maintain direct deposit and deduction information.
• Process payroll-related updates for new hires, terminations, benefit deductions, reimbursement items, and other employee compensation changes.
• Support multi-state payroll compliance by applying current payroll laws, tax requirements, and wage regulations across applicable jurisdictions.
• Enter and validate special payroll items such as deferred compensation, taxable fringe benefit adjustments, severance payments, commissions, profit-sharing amounts, and year-end reporting entries when needed.
• Partner closely with HR and internal stakeholders to gather approvals, verify payroll data, and ensure smooth completion of each payroll cycle.
• Contribute ideas for improving payroll workflows and assist with knowledge transfer during the initial onboarding and handoff period.• Prior experience managing full-cycle payroll in a detail-focused business environment.
• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP payroll systems.
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, tax withholding requirements, and payroll compliance regulations.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to reconcile discrepancies and maintain accurate employee payroll records.
• Clear and effective communication skills, with confidence in following up on approvals and coordinating with internal teams.
• Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule of approximately 20 to 24 hours per week, with availability during primary payroll processing days.
• Comfortable supporting payroll operations aligned with Central Time business hours.
