Director of Human Resources (HR Director)

Marion Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and people-focused Director of Human Resources (HR Director) to join our leadership team at our 99-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Marion, Ohio.

The HR Director is an important member of the facility leadership team and is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day Human Resources functions of the facility. This position works closely with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, department managers, employees, and Garden Springs Healthcare's corporate HR team to support recruitment, retention, employee engagement, payroll, compliance, and a positive workplace culture.

We are looking for an HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees and leaders and wants to make a meaningful impact on both the employee experience and the success of the facility.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate recruitment and hiring activities for facility positions.

• Manage the applicant process and help ensure candidates receive timely communication and follow-up.

• Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, required documentation, and employee file completion.

• Maintain accurate and compliant employee personnel files and HR records.

• Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.

• Assist leadership with employee relations, coaching, counseling, investigations, and corrective action processes.

• Coordinate facility payroll processes and review timekeeping information for accuracy and timely submission.

• Monitor attendance, PTO, leaves of absence, and other employee-related processes.

• Support compliance with applicable employment requirements and company policies.

• Coordinate required employee education, training, and documentation.

• Track required licenses, certifications, background checks, health requirements, and other employment documentation.

• Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.

• Support employee retention, recognition, engagement, and workplace culture initiatives.

• Assist with benefits enrollment and employee benefit questions.

• Coordinate employee status changes, transfers, promotions, and separations.

• Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information.

• Participate in facility leadership meetings, audits, surveys, and compliance initiatives.

• Partner with corporate Human Resources and Compliance leadership when additional guidance or support is needed.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Human Resources experience, preferably in healthcare, skilled nursing, long-term care, senior living, or another high-volume employee environment.

• Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll/timekeeping, and HR compliance.

• Previous HR leadership, HR Manager, HR Director, HR Generalist, or comparable experience.

• Working knowledge of federal and Ohio employment requirements.

• Experience working with HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, or workforce management systems.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.

• Comfortable working directly with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
