Cardiology Physician - Locum Opportunity

Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Cardiologist with General Cardiology and Electrophysiology expertise for a 36-week locum assignment providing adult cardiology coverage in both clinic and hospital settings. This opportunity is available due to coverage gaps and requires physicians capable of managing general cardiology cases, electrophysiology procedures, inpatient rounding, admissions, and consultations.

The assignment offers an ASAP start upon credentialing with one position available. The role includes General Cardiology coverage and Electrophysiology coverage, with hospital and clinic privileges required depending on specialty focus.

About the Facility

• Outpatient clinic setting with hospital-based responsibilities
• Adult patient population
• 247-bed facility
• Average daily census: approximately 10 patients
• Average patient volume:
  • General Cardiology: approximately 8-10 patients/day
• EP coverage includes both hospital and clinic settings
• General Cardiology coverage requires hospital privileges
• Provider will have APC support available Monday–Saturday as needed
• Epic EMR system
• Travel support available with caps

Job Responsibilities

• Provide General Cardiology and Electrophysiology coverage
• Perform inpatient rounding and admissions
• Evaluate and manage adult cardiology patients
• Provide hospital and clinic-based cardiology services
• Perform electrophysiology procedures, including:
  • Pacemaker procedures
  • Ablations
  • Full-spectrum EP cases
• Perform General Cardiology procedures, including:
  • Cardioversions
  • Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
• Perform approximately 2-4 TEE procedures per shift when assigned
• Participate in scheduled call coverage
• Collaborate with APC support staff and clinical teams
• Maintain documentation using Epic EMR

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Cardiology
• Board Certified in Electrophysiology required for EP coverage
• Active Washington medical license required or willingness to obtain
• IMLC accepted
• Minimum of 1 year of experience required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (no exemptions)

Required Clinical Documentation:

• Documentation of cardiovascular disease services representative of the scope and complexity of requested privileges within the previous 24 months
• EP physicians must provide documentation of at least 100 electrophysiology cases performed within the previous 24 months

Working Hours

• Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing
• Assignment Duration: 36 weeks
• Schedule: 5-day workweek structure
• General Cardiology coverage:
  • 10-hour shifts
  • 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • One week per month
• Call responsibilities:
  • Approximately 2 weeknight calls during a one-week stretch
  • Potential 24-hour weekend call as needed
• 8 hours of billable orientation
• Holiday coverage may include:
  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
