Gastroenterology Physician - Locum Opportunity

Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist providing both inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology coverage. This role requires expertise in ERCP and advanced GI procedures and offers the opportunity to work in both clinic and hospital settings.

The assignment is available for an ASAP start as soon as credentialed and is open due to coverage gaps. The provider will join an established Gastroenterology practice with additional GI physicians and support staff.

About the Facility

• Outpatient clinic setting with hospital privileges
• Both inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology services
• Both clinic and hospital privileges required
• 253-bed facility
• Adult patient population (18+)
• Provider will work alongside other Gastroenterologists within the practice
• Average patient volume:
  • Clinic: Approximately 16 patients/day
  • Outpatient Endoscopy Center: Approximately 14–16 patients/day
  • Hospital census: Varies
• Current approval for a 6-month assignment
• Epic EMR system
• Travel support available with caps

Job Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology coverage
• Perform hospital rounding and admissions
• Manage adult GI patients in clinic and hospital settings
• Perform ERCP and other required GI procedures
• Provide consultation services during call coverage
• Participate in 24-hour call and hospitalist-style shifts
• Perform GI procedures in ambulatory clinic/endoscopy settings when scheduled
• Collaborate with other Gastroenterologists and clinical support staff
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Provide required case logs and credentialing documentation

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Gastroenterology
• Active Washington medical license preferred
• IMLC accepted
• Willing to license
• ACLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Must meet Medical Staff Office credentialing requirements

Required Clinical Documentation:

• Provide documentation of Gastroenterology services representative of the scope and complexity of requested privileges within the previous 24 months
• Training logs accepted for physicians who completed training within the previous year
• Additional documentation required for double balloon enteroscopy or capsule endoscopy privileges if training occurred within the previous 2 years
• ERCP applicants must provide documentation of relevant ERCP clinical activity within the previous 24 months
• Maintenance requirement for ERCP privilege: Minimum of 50 successful ERCP procedures within the past 2 years
• Physicians not meeting ERCP maintenance criteria may require proctoring by a physician currently holding the privilege

Working Hours

• Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing
• Standard schedule: 5 days/week
• Day shifts: 8-hour shifts, typically 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
• Schedule may include:
  • 24-hour call coverage
  • Hospitalist shifts on weekdays and weekends
  • 8-9 hour day shifts in ambulatory clinic/endoscopy settings
• Call required
• Weekend coverage may be required based on call schedule
• 8 hours of billable orientation
• Holiday coverage may include:
  • New Year's Day
