Staff Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Newton, MA. Summary: We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close activities. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, the ability to work independently, and experience supporting multi-entity organizations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable managing complex accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries for general ledger accounts
- Perform monthly account and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data
- Support external and internal audit requests, including preparation of schedules and documentation
- Assist with variance analysis, comparing actuals to budget and forecast
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and support depreciation and capital expenditure tracking
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and support reporting needs
- Mentor and review the work of staff accountants as needed
- Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or similar)
- Experience supporting multi-entity or international organizations
- Public accounting experience a plus
