Primary Job Title: Product Owner - Mid-Level Location: Framingham, MA, US Onsite Flexibility: Remote Position Type: Contract Start: As Soon As Possible Job Summary The Product Owner is responsible for defining the Team Product Backlog of User Stories including backlog prioritization, refinement, and creation of acceptance criteria along with an agreed upon definition of done. Product Owners at this level possess proficient knowledge of SAFe principles, Kanban, and Scrum, including embracing agile principles and applying a lean agile mindset. They demonstrate critical thinking skills such as analytical thinking, problem solving, open-mindedness, and creativity. At this level, the Product Owner is an expert in at least one Product/Domain area that guides, informs, and provides insight on product enhancements, maintenance, and efficiencies needed. Product Owners at this level can support the delivery of assigned Product Increment (PI) objectives and can be assigned to a maximum of two agile teams. Top Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work in the grey Key Responsibilities Responsible for defining Team Product Backlog of User Stories including backlog prioritization, refinement and creation of acceptance criteria along with agreed upon definition of done, with autonomy to make decisions around the team backlog Partner with the Product Manager to understand priorities and PI features and support driving the Product Increment (PI) objective at the Team Level Drive Iteration Goals and content via prioritized user stories Serve as a Product/Domain expert that guides, informs and provides insight on what product enhancements, maintenance and efficiencies/remediation are needed Ensure the technical integrity of the solution Serve as Product decision maker including Functional and NFRs; accept User Stories and Iteration Increments Conduct impact analysis for optimal product delivery, industry trends etc. Contribute to the Vision, Roadmap and ROI; ensure the team's backlog aligns to the Roadmap Act as the Customer for Teams including being the liaison between the business and team Ensure team risks and dependencies are identified and managed Collaborate with the System Architect to prioritize Enablers Manage stakeholders; be accountable for identifying and managing risks, scope trade-offs, and timeline impacts Collaborate on dependencies with the team, Product Mgr and other teams for optimal delivery outcomes Be skilled in SAFe principles, Kanban and Scrum framework including embracing of agile principles and a lean agile mindset Fully understand Roles & Responsibilities of the team, stakeholders, other teams Use metrics to assess team progress and areas for improvement Leverage various Agile processes such as Story and Value Stream Mapping and Estimating using Fibonacci scale Leverage Agile planning tools Support DevOps and Security best practices Play an instrumental role in the preparation of the system demo as well as producing the system demo Attend and actively participate in Release Train Ceremonies: PI Planning, System Demo, ART Sync, and Inspect & Adapt when part of an ART Attend and actively participate in Team Agile Ceremonies Ensure feedback from System Demos Retrospectives and I&A workshops are taken back to teams for possible inclusion in future continuous improvement activities Understand Rolling Wave plans and impact to budget Enable the team to be empowered and self-regulated Support third party vendor and solution evaluation, selection, and management May support a PO for optimal PI feature allocation approach Required Skills PI Planning experience Product Launch experience Implementation of SAAS product experience Stakeholder Management Backlog Management and Prioritization Familiarity with budget impacts on projects Jira Preferred Skills Confluence Jira Align (integrated tool that works with Jira) Kanban and Scrum Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans 401k Retirement Fund About the Client Fortune 500 company and the leading off-price apparel and home fashion retailer in the U.S. and worldwide.
