Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year Required License: Valid Nursing License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (facility will provide MOAB training) Must-Have: - MOAB certification is required. - If the traveler does not have the MOAB certification, they will receive a 4-hour de-escalation course during their first week. - If the traveler does not pass the course, their contract may be subject to cancellation. - Flu vaccine is required, with medical or religious exemptions only accepted. Description: The Registered Nurse will provide routine and emergency healthcare to patients. The RN will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to providers. Responsibilities include detoxification and coordinating care with dental and mental health professionals. The RN will triage and assess new patients, conduct detox rounds per protocol, and manage urgent care and sick calls. The facility has an average daily population of approximately 1640 inmates. The RN will need to possess skills in phlebotomy, starting IVs, and high flow nasal cannula management. Isolation precautions and adherence to safety protocols are essential. The RN should be prepared to float between detox, intake, and behavioral health units if necessary. Daily census fluctuates between 1800 to 1950, requiring flexibility and adaptability in workflow. Special equipment usage and emergency response involvement may be necessary. Previous experience in correctional, emergency, or medical-surgical settings is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to manage patients presenting with various health concerns and support substance withdrawal protocols. The RN will work within an interdisciplinary team, utilizing interpretation services and rapid response teams when needed. It's important that candidates meet all required qualifications and certifications for consideration.
