Product Manager – Construction Building Materials

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead the development, launch, and growth of innovative building material products used in residential and commercial construction applications. This is a highly customer-facing role that combines product management, market research, and field engagement to ensure products meet customer needs and drive market growth.

The ideal candidate will spend significant time interacting with contractors, distributors, and home builders to gather market intelligence, validate product concepts, and identify opportunities for new product development. This individual will work closely with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to bring products from concept through commercialization.

Travel is approximately 25% throughout the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the product lifecycle from concept through launch and ongoing market growth.
• Engage directly with contractors, distributors, builders, and end users to gather customer feedback and identify market opportunities.
• Conduct market analysis and competitive research to identify industry trends and unmet customer needs.
• Develop product concepts based on customer feedback and market demand.
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to bring new products to market.
• Serve as the voice of the customer by translating field insights into product improvements and future development.
• Support new product launches, pricing strategies, positioning, and go-to-market initiatives.
• Conduct field visits, product demonstrations, and hands-on product evaluations in real-world construction environments.
• Train customers, distributors, and internal sales teams on product features, applications, and best practices.
• Assist with trade shows, customer events, and marketing initiatives.
• Manage product documentation and support quality-related inquiries when needed.
• Build strong relationships with customers while becoming a trusted technical resource within the market.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of Product Management experience.
• Experience within building materials, construction products, adhesives, sealants, insulation, roofing, or related industries strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of product development and commercialization.
• Experience conducting market research and competitive analysis.
• Comfortable working directly with contractors, distributors, and home builders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
