AI Compliance SaaS Finance Accounting Operations Support Revenue Growth Automation remote curated-jd Fieldguide seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee and enhance our accounting operations as the company expands. This role involves direct responsibility for the monthly financial close and several critical accounting functions, with a focus on developing more efficient and automated processes. Ideal candidates will have prior startup experience, excel at independent problem-solving, and be eager to implement modern technology and AI in accounting. Key facts Location: Remote (USA) Engagement: Full-time Team: General & Administrative What you'll do Manage key aspects of the monthly financial close, including preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, booking accruals, analyzing variances, and generating financial reports. Oversee accounting for revenue, accounts receivable, payroll, commissions, operating expenses, prepaid assets, and fixed assets. Analyze contracts and business transactions to determine and address accounting implications. Maintain and refine accounting workflows within Rillet and other financial systems. Develop and implement controls that ensure accuracy without adding undue complexity. Utilize AI and automation to minimize manual tasks and improve the efficiency and quality of the close process. Collaborate with Strategic Finance and other departments to ensure accurate transaction recording and proactive issue resolution. Assist with the annual audit, tax filings, and other compliance activities. Take ownership of new accounting initiatives as the company and its products evolve. Requirements Possess at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a preference for experience in a fast-growing startup or SaaS company. Demonstrate a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience managing monthly closing procedures. Have experience with revenue recognition and other accounting considerations typical for subscription software businesses. Show a history of independently investigating issues, forming conclusions, and driving them to resolution. Exhibit strong analytical abilities and the capacity to identify inconsistencies in processes, transactions, or results. Be comfortable working in an environment where processes may still be under development or require improvement. Have experience using AI tools in daily tasks and a curiosity about their potential to enhance accounting operations. Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with various teams. Nice to have Experience with Rillet. CPA certification and/or public accounting background. Experience in enhancing or automating accounting processes within a growing organization.
