This position supports statewide services and is based in the Denver Metro area.

WHAT YOU WILL DO TO HELP FURTHER THE BIAC MISSION:

As Program Manager - Self-Management Services, provide leadership for the Self-Management program staff while also working face-to-face with clients in the region. This position serves in a mentor/coach capacity to develop or refine client skills, lead program development, evaluation, and reporting efforts and supervise program staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Contact: Provide guidance, support, and hope while problem solving and navigating resources to meet client needs.

• Meet face-to-face with clients for an average of one hour per week in their home community or virtually (serving about 6 unique clients every six months).

• Successfully train or teach clients how to develop, grow and practice functional tasks: calling and scheduling appointments; pre-planning for meetings with professionals; using a calendar; managing schedules; meal planning; learning how to file paperwork; managing important contacts; sorting mail and understanding contents; creating and prioritizing a to-do-list. Work with clients to identify and draw upon natural supports to ensure long-term sustainability of skill development. Personal skills (self-advocacy, decision making, social/emotional) and Vocational skills (Job searching, resume/applications, preparing for the workplace).

• Be a constant source of encouragement by helping clients to recognize and own their progress and successes. Acknowledge and celebrate effort and accomplishments.

• Data Entry and Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate client records in the database.

• Within one week of interacting with the client, record details of client contact related to the case including duration, type of contact, and summary of activities and progress in SalesForce. Update case with other relevant changes to progress within the program.

Supervision

Staff Supervision:

• Directly supervise the following positions (2 employees, 2.0 FTE): Advisor in Denver Metro Region and Advisor in the Southern Region.

• Supervise Self-management Advisors (indirect reports) in the Northern and Western Slope Regions as it relates to their Self-Management cases. These employees also serve as Resource Facilitators.

Human Resources: With human resources, department directors and CEO, recruit, hire, onboard, and retain quality employees.

• As needed, complete supervisor responsibilities for new hires per BIAC’s hiring and onboarding procedures.

• At least annually, complete formal check-in process with all direct reports, and serve as a contributor to annual reviews for indirect reports.

• Receive, review and approve payroll reports, PTO requests and special requests from direct reports on an ongoing basis.

• Professional Development: Support lifelong learning for direct reports.

• Provide on-the-job technical assistance for direct reports.

• Support direct reports in identifying and pursuing appropriate training and professional development opportunities at least annually.

Program Coordination

Direction: With department director, provide leadership and oversight for self-management.

• Develop, implement and monitor required policies and procedures annually.

• Provide ongoing training to employees and subcontractors on required policies and procedures.

• Generate and maintain relationships with subcontractors as needed.

• Assign, review, and close clients (cases) as needed.

• Accept, review and respond to appeals and grievances (in coordination with CEO and state as needed).

• Ensure the translation of approved materials into other languages as required or by request.

Data Management, Reporting and Evaluation

• With Client Services Director, ensure timely, complete and accurate data collection, entry, reporting and evaluation for the self-management program.

• Coordinate and monitor tool development, data collection, data entry, data analysis and reporting processes and schedules.

• Generate and submit annual reports for MINDSOURCE. Contribute to quarterly CEO Report.

• Participate in the development and delivery of annual reports and presentations for MINDSOURCE as needed.

• Ensure data-driven decisions inform programmatic changes by:

  • reviewing evaluation findings at regular intervals.

  • participating in program development discussions based on existing data at least annually.

  • collaborating to develop additional data analysis strategies as needed to answer key questions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience and minimum one year of experience managing a program and/or staff in areas relevant to the position.

• Experience teaching life skills such as: organization, financial management, healthy lifestyle, social skills, job skills, computer and internet usage.

• Experience working with people with cognitive disabilities and/or behavioral health challenges.

• Access to reliable transportation for travel within the region this position serves as needed.

• Ability to travel occasionally to meetings and events within the state, sometimes after hours and on weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree, or equivalent experience, and three years of experience managing a program and/or staff in areas relevant to the position.

• Experience navigating systems in a human services, case management, social work, or other applicable setting.

• Knowledge of community, state, and federal resources for brain injury, disability, or human services specific to the region this position serves.

• Experience with program reporting and evaluation to fulfill grant and contract requirements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• CBIS certification (acquired within 1 year of employment and maintained through continuing education). BIAC provides training. Brain Injury Fundamentals can be an alternative to the CBIS certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Can read and interpret documents. Can draft routine reports and correspondence. Can speak effectively before groups.

• Bilingual (English and Spanish) - preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Spend 15-25% of time per week on travel to and from meetings with clients in their home communities.

• Willingness to travel within the region this position serves and to other meetings and events within the state.

• Hybrid work environment - in office at least once per month for all-staff meetings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, or driving in a car.

• Hybrid work environment - travel to Valor for required monthly staff meetings as needed.

OTHER:

• Equipment used: computer, car, cell phone.

• Spend about 20% of time per week on travel to or from meetings with clients in their home communities.

• Access: stair, elevator.

• Travel: local, with occasional overnight travel to other locations.

• Work Hours/ Shifts: Varies, may occasionally include evenings and weekends.

• Spend 15-25% of time per week on travel to and from meetings with clients in their home communities.

• Willingness to travel within the region this position serves and to other meetings and events within the state.

• Hybrid work environment - in office at least once per month for all-staff meetings.

A standard full-time scheduled work week of 35 hours.
