Senior Database Engineer

Job DescriptionPosition Summary:Senior Database Engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions. These solutions will generate insights from the organization's connected data, enabling the organization to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities of the organization's enterprise. This role requires deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows. The ideal candidate is a skilled data / software engineer with experience creating data products supporting analytic solutions. They are an Agile learner, possess strong problem-solving skills, work as part of a technical, cross functional analytics team, and want to solve complex data problems and deliver the insights to enable analytics strategy.Duties, Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsDesign, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to data engineering principles and business goalsSolve complex data problems to deliver insights that helps the organization's business to achieve their goalsCreate data products for analytics and data scientist team members to improve their productivityAdvise, consult, mentor and coach other data and analytic professionals on data standards and practicesFoster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutionsLead the evaluation, implementation and deployment of emerging tools and processes for analytic data engineering in order to improve the organization's productivity as a teamDevelop and deliver communication and education plans on data engineering capabilities, standards, and processesPartner with Product Analysts, Product Owners, and Solutions Architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives.Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematicsRequired Qualifications / Skills:Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering preferred5 years of experience working in data engineering or architecture role, 7+ preferredHands-on Snowflake experience, particularly in designing and optimizing data models and pipelines with a focus on performance and cost optimization.Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used within Data Engineering, such as Python, Scala, or Java.Experience in AWS, hands-on work building and operating data pipelines using services such as S3, IAM, EC2/ECS, Lambda, or GlueExperience with dbt (models, tests, documentation) is preferredExpertise with an orchestration platform such as AirflowProficiency in Software Development & CI/CDConceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data.Exposure to machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics#LI-GT1LocationRochester, New YorkAdditional LocationsChicago, Illinois, San Antonio, TexasJob TypeFull timeJob AreaInformation TechnologyThe salary range for this role is:$113,500.00 - $177,600.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
