Position Overview

This role is based at Fort Riley, Kansas, and is classified as a Direct Hire Solicitation. Candidates who are new to Federal service may have the opportunity for salary negotiations. It is important to note that federal civilian healthcare providers are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)), which means they are not required to carry medical malpractice liability insurance while performing their duties.

• Adhere to hospital policies and regulations while facilitating patient access to appropriate medical care and referrals to other healthcare providers.
• Deliver direct patient care within a Medical Treatment Facility.
• Provide consultative opinions to fellow physicians and healthcare personnel, supervising care provided by non-physicians.
• Maintain health and clinical records in compliance with current regulations and standards.
• Determine when to seek advice and guidance as necessary.

Eligibility: Open to U.S. Citizens

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer roles through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, social). All qualifying experience will be credited, including volunteer work. Your resume should clearly detail your relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirements for Physician (Family Practice):

• Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies such as the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. For foreign medical degrees, equivalency to accredited U.S. schools must be demonstrated through certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
• Graduate Training: After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.

In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also meet the following qualifications:

• Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed accredited residency training in Family Medicine, along with equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the required residency training in the specified specialty.
