Job Opportunity: Palliative Care Physician

We are excited to announce a full-time position for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Palliative Care Physician to join our inpatient team in Oakland, Michigan. Our dedicated Palliative Care team collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to manage pain and other symptoms, facilitate discussions about goals and wishes, and provide essential support to families seeking resources for their loved ones.

We are looking for a compassionate and committed Palliative Care Physician to enhance our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive palliative care services to individuals facing chronic pain and serious, life-limiting conditions. This role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient care, with an emphasis on enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients experiencing complex pain conditions and those in need of palliative care.
• Create and execute personalized pain management and palliative care strategies.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic patient care.
• Offer end-of-life care and support for patients and families, managing symptoms such as pain, nausea, fatigue, and depression related to chronic or terminal illnesses.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, disease processes, pain management techniques, and palliative care principles.
• Work closely with internal medicine physicians, oncologists, surgeons, and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Facilitate care transitions, including moving patients from hospital to home, hospice, or other care facilities.
• Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in pain and palliative care.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and assist in the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.
• Licensure: Valid State of Michigan medical license.
• Certification: Board certification in Palliative Care is required; additional certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years in palliative care is required.
