Manufacturing Engineer – Supplier Launch Support

The Manufacturing Engineer will support supplier launch activities for two suppliers located near GM's Orion Assembly facility. These suppliers provide assemblies and major commodities supporting vehicle production, including headliners, suspension components, and engine dress assemblies.

This position will provide day-to-day launch oversight and coordination, serving as a key liaison between the suppliers and the broader GM team. The engineer will help suppliers access and interpret the engineering data, systems, specifications, and upcoming product or process changes necessary to maintain build readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Support launch activities for two suppliers located near Orion Assembly.
• Coordinate supplier readiness for assemblies and components being delivered into the vehicle assembly plant.
• Serve as a primary information resource and liaison for suppliers, helping ensure timely communication of requirements, changes, and build information.
• Navigate engineering systems and retrieve relevant drawings, specifications, part information, and technical data.
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, part specifications, and engineering codes.
• Understand relationships between engineering codes, vehicle parts, and specifications to identify the appropriate application.
• Assist suppliers in understanding upcoming engineering and manufacturing changes affecting launch readiness.
• Monitor supplier and manufacturing activities to identify potential issues and support timely resolution.
• Analyze manufacturing and program data using Excel, Power BI, and other digital tools.
• Support workflow, material-handling, equipment, and manufacturing-readiness activities as required.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, supplier, and program stakeholders.
• Support activities both in an office environment and on the manufacturing floor.

This position supports supplier launch execution but is not responsible for designing or creating the conveyance system.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 2–4 years of manufacturing, supplier, launch, or related engineering experience.
• Experience supporting suppliers and/or manufacturing operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, bills of materials, part specifications, and technical documentation.
• Working/intermediate ability to navigate engineering systems such as Teamcenter, Siemens NX, AM, or similar platforms; expert-level CAD design or programming experience is not required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier organizations.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a launch environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with automation and manufacturing equipment.
• Experience supporting automotive manufacturing or vehicle launches.
• Familiarity with GM engineering systems, processes, coding conventions, or Brown Code/Green Code is beneficial but not required.
• Willingness to utilize AI and other emerging digital tools.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM.
• On-site: This is an on-site position with no remote option.
• Work will be split between office and manufacturing-floor environments at the supplier locations near Orion Assembly.
• No travel is currently expected.
• Initial assignment is approximately six months, with potential for extension.
