Team Leader, Beacon Harlem, On-Call/Per-Diem (54349)

Job Location: 301 West 140th Street, New York, NY 10030. Position Type: On-Call/Per Diem, Hourly, Non-Exempt. Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, Afterschool Hours. Full onsite. Department: Community Centers, Beacon Harlem. Direct Supervisor: Program Coordinator/Assistant Director, Beacon Harlem. Position Title : Team Leader. Role Overview Team leaders work in Graham Windham’s after school programs and summer camp. They supervise children during a variety of academic, recreational, cultural and youth development activities, create a safe, wholesome environment, and help participants develop well‑rounded skills to handle long‑term challenges. Responsibilities Lead activities such as academic enrichment, small‑group tutoring, art projects, interactive literacy, math and STEM activities. Create a safe learning environment for participants. Maintain accurate student attendance reports and portfolio evaluations. Attend staff meetings and/or staff development activities. Lead and supervise your group of students during summer camp trips. Participate in Graham Windham’s organizational activities when appropriate. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required upon application. College Degree preferred. At least 1–2 years of experience working with groups of elementary‑aged to high‑school‑aged students (experience solely with Pre‑K is NOT applicable). At least 18 years of age. Requirements Availability from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Documentation regarding education is required. Three letters of recommendation. Must be fingerprinted and cleared by the Department of Health and any required state central registry clearance documentation prior to employment. Full application completion and all documentation requested must be received. Serve as a role model for program participants. Be a well‑organized individual capable of creating, producing and maintaining lesson plans and documentation. Possess quality communication skills that reflect active listening. Ability to empathize with participants and plan appropriate interventions with staff and supervisor. Salary & Compensation Base Salary or Hourly Rate: $21.36 per hour. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt.
