Assistant Professor at CUMC

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Columbia University in New York City invites outstanding candidates to apply for a non-tenure faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the field computational structural biology with special focus on the design of highly specific protein-protein interactions. The Department seeks individuals with exceptional accomplishments and significant prior expertise in protein design of novel neuronal adhesion molecules. The candidate will also have expertise in the use of free energy perturbation methods to predict the effects of mutations on binding affinities and, most importantly, a demonstrated ability to drive an experimental program that validates the simulations. This activity involves ongoing interactions with research technicians involved in protein production and the measurement of binding affinities. The candidate will report to Professors Barry Honig and Lawrence Shapiro and will carry out research in their joint laboratory at ZI. Minimum Degree Requirement: Ph.D. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or postdoctoral experience in computational structural biology. Preferred Qualifications: A significant publication record in the design of novel protein-protein interactions.
