Role Overview Perform grant development, coordination, and administration at multiple levels, ranging from complex (journey-level) to advanced (senior-level). Work under general supervision with varying latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Monitor and analyze grant work budgets, determine spending trends, identify areas of concern, and develop requirements for grant programs. Key Contributions GS II – Monitor grant and/or contract budgets with mentor support, ensuring timely and compliant expenditures in accordance with program guidance and applicable policies and procedures. GS III – Monitor highly complex grant and/or contract budgets, ensuring timely and compliant expenditures in accordance with program guidance and applicable policies and procedures. GS IV – Monitor an advanced portfolio for grant and/or contract budgets, ensuring timely and compliant expenditures in accordance with program guidance and applicable policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a degree in public administration, business, or a closely related field. Education and experience may substitute for each other. Experience: Grant Specialist II – One (1) or more years of experience in a professional work setting. Grant Specialist III – One (1) or more years of experience in a professional work setting; an additional year with work related to grants, contracts, and/or federal finance. Grant Specialist IV – Three (3) or more additional years of experience in a professional work setting, with experience related to the administration, development, coordination, and monitoring of federally funded grants or contracts. Intermediate or higher level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications Experience as a Grant Coordinator, Grant Specialist, or Grant Manager. Experience in Disaster Recovery and/or community development block grant work. Experience with oversight of federal funds or federally funded programs. Physical Requirements Primarily sedentary office work. The position requires mobility for traveling, carrying records, documents, boxes, and related materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Extensive computer, telephone and client/customer contact and communication are required. Requires normal cognitive abilities, including learning, recall, and applying policies and practices.
