Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Accounts Payable Specialist to step into a critical leadership role and help stabilize, improve, and oversee the Accounts Payable function during a key transition period. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact by driving process improvements, strengthening controls, supporting staff development, and ensuring the AP department operates efficiently and effectively. This is a full time, on-site role, with no remote work possibility. Candidates must ideally live within the Des Moines Metro area.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Accounts Payable operations and payment processes
- Review, update, and implement AP policies, procedures, and controls
- Drive process improvements and identify workflow efficiencies
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve escalated issues
- Support month-end close, reconciliations, and AP reporting activities

Qualifications
- Prior AP Manager, AP Supervisor, or AP Operations leadership experience
- Strong understanding of AP controls, compliance, and best practices
- Experience leading process improvement and operational change initiatives
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and support accounting staff
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- NetSuite experience strongly preferred
- Oracle ERP experience highly desired
- AP automation and OCR invoice capture tools
- Experience stabilizing or rebuilding AP functions
- Background supporting accounting operations and month-end processes
