Job Title Manufacturing Technician III (Packaging Mechanic) Job Description The Manufacturing Technician III reports to a Supervisor or Manager on the manufacturing floor and supports packaging operations. The position includes setup, changeover, repairs, preventative maintenance, packaging technician duties, mechanical training, and continuous improvement resource work. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities: Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain packaging equipment such as picker, sorter, labeler, packer, checkweigher, printer, inspection equipment, palletizer, stretch‑wrapper, and conveyors. Act as a first‑line technical resource and provide support to production technicians, resolving startup, recipe selection, sensor challenges, and production issues. Proactively monitor equipment and perform preventive maintenance; investigate abnormal conditions to prevent unplanned downtime. Carry out technician tasks including startup, operation, manual packaging, batch execution, material handling, rework, cleaning, housekeeping, and line clearance. Operate light material handling equipment to safely move, store, or deliver material. Monitor material quality of incoming, in‑process, and finished materials and report concerns to leadership. Complete batch records, GMP documentation, and CMMS entries; perform necessary calculations. Adhere to safety procedures and hazard controls (PPE, ergonomics, LOTO, chemical handling, spill controls). Perform work in compliance with SOPs, cGMPs, and safety/quality procedures. Other Responsibilities: Support lean activities, process improvement, and 5S; track OEE and performance data. Lead Level0 problem‑solving on equipment issues. Serve as a certified on‑the‑job trainer; train and evaluate team members. Review process documents and suggest improvements while maintaining cGMP compliance. Execute protocols for equipment qualification and process validation. Provide support to other work areas as needed. Maintain required certifications and qualifications. Education & Qualifications Minimum: Prior experience in a regulated production environment, equipment maintenance and performance expertise. Must have proficient English reading, writing, and communication skills. Ability to lift and handle equipment parts and tooling. Preferred Background High school graduate, vocational school graduate, or equivalent. Associate degree in engineering or mechanical trade preferred. Experience with automated equipment, hydraulics, electronics systems, and SAP. Knowledge of OEE, TPM, LEAN, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
