Fiber Technician

Omaha, NE

TEKsystems is hiring Fiber Technicians and Fiber Helpers to support a commercial data center construction project in Omaha, Nebraska.

We are looking for technicians with hands-on experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber and Cat6 cabling. This is not a supervisory role. The experienced technicians simply need to be capable of performing the work independently, terminating fiber, and running certification tests without constant oversight.

Project Details

• Monday-Friday
• 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Lunch at Noon
• Commercial data center construction environment
• Overtime may become available

Fiber Technician Requirements

• Experience installing and terminating fiber optic cabling
• Experience testing fiber using Fluke DSX or similar testing equipment
• Experience with labeling and documentation
• Experience installing and terminating Cat6 cabling
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned work with minimal direction
• Comfortable working in active construction environments

Fiber Helper Requirements

• Experience pulling fiber or Cat6 cable
• Structured cabling experience preferred
• Ability to assist with installation, dressing, labeling, and cable management
• Desire to learn fiber installation techniques

Responsibilities

• Install fiber optic and Cat6 cabling
• Terminate fiber and copper cabling
• Perform testing and certification of installed cabling
• Label and document cable pathways
• Maintain cable management standards
• Assist with data center infrastructure builds
• Follow all site safety requirements

Important: These technician positions are not crew lead or management roles. We are simply looking for experienced fiber technicians who can independently terminate fiber, run testing, troubleshoot basic issues, and complete quality installations.

This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Omaha,NE.

This position is anticipated to close on Oct 8, 2026.
