Tooling Specialist - Injection Molds Job Title: Tooling Specialist-Injection Molds Department: Tooling Reports To: General Manager Location: 7865 Northcourt Rd, Suite #100, Houston, Texas 77040 Effective/Revision Date: 4/2026 Role Purpose The Tooling Specialist is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of approved tools by executing the following duties: Scope & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues with injection molds. Recommend and oversee mold repair and maintenance. Develop and implement corrective and preventive maintenance actions. Use manual lathes and grinders to repair and maintain injection molds. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to create, modify, and analyze tooling designs as needed. Fabricate and maintain tooling, fixtures, jigs, and dies to support production. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures as needed. Coordinate with external vendors for outsourced tooling repairs and compliance requirements. Collaborate with various departments to address and implement customer requirements. Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with 5S and workplace safety standards. Report safety concerns and injuries promptly, ensuring adherence to plant safety protocols. Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions. Work Experience & Skills Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in tool and die, machining, industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred. Specialized training or directly related experience in injection mold repair, tooling, and mold maintenance is strongly preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered. Experience: This position requires at least 2 years of experience supporting a full-service tooling department Skills / Knowledge: This position requires the following skills: forklift driving, tool assessment, tool cleaning, mold set-up, use manual lathes and grinders, and in some cases, proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, including AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The worker is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work). Physical or operational requirements : Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and or operation or machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes.
