Job Description

This role focuses on MIG welding mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel to fabricate agricultural equipment and related products according to detailed blueprint specifications. You prepare your own parts using shop equipment, complete welding and assembly work both inside the shop and outside in the yard, and perform your own finishing and grinding to deliver high-quality, production-ready components.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel in accordance with blueprint specifications and quality standards.

• Read and interpret welding blueprints to determine material requirements, weld types, and assembly sequences.

• Pull and stage your own materials from shelving, using a forklift when needed (training provided).

• Operate shop equipment such as drill press, saw, shear, and other tools to cut, drill, and prep parts prior to welding.

• Assemble parts and subassemblies to create finished agricultural equipment and products.

• Conduct finishing and grinding on welded parts to meet required fit, finish, and safety standards.

• Weld smaller parts and products inside the shop on welding tables and fixtures.

• Weld larger parts and products outside in the yard, working in various weather conditions as needed.

• Work in all welding positions as required by the job, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.

• Perform fabrication tasks as needed, including fitting, tacking, and adjusting components to ensure proper alignment.

• Support general shop operations by assisting with grinding, assembly work, material handling, and machine operation as needed.

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient shop environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven MIG welding experience with mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.

• Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints accurately.

• Ability to weld in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.

• Ability to work outside in the elements when welding larger parts and products in the yard.

• Capability to perform fabrication tasks such as fitting, tacking, and prepping parts as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift experience for pulling and staging materials from shelving.

• Experience operating common shop equipment such as drill press, saw, and shear.

• Experience in fabrication or assembly work in a manufacturing or shop environment.

• Comfort working in a smaller, collaborative welding shop with a variety of daily tasks.

Work Environment

You work in a smaller, close-knit shop environment currently staffed with four welders, with plans to grow to six or seven as production increases. The role is primarily first shift, running from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with roughly one hour of overtime per day. Work takes place both inside the shop at welding tables and fabrication stations and outside in the yard for larger assemblies, requiring comfort with changing weather conditions. You use typical fabrication and welding equipment, including MIG welders, drill presses, saws, shears, and forklifts, in a production-focused but collaborative setting.Experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Young America, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
