Staff Product Engineer, Americas

About the Role As a Product Engineer at Ashby, you will own a large portion of one of our products and take responsibility for projects from concept to delivery, wearing the hats of product and design. You will research competitors, write product specs, create wireframes, and build solutions end‑to‑end. Responsibilities Own end‑to‑end delivery of product features, from requirements gathering to implementation and launch. Write product specifications and design wireframes that communicate vision to stakeholders. Build reusable building blocks across the stack, such as automated interview scheduling, declarative filter architecture, and a complete offer‑signing flow. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to iterate on solutions that meet user needs. Maintain high quality code, automate testing, and contribute to a robust developer experience. Qualifications Strong ownership mindset and the ability to tackle any part of the technology stack. Experience working on projects with product and technical ambiguity, building flexible abstractions. Balance speed and quality; thrive in an environment that prioritizes high‑quality product delivery. Excellent collaborator and communicator, comfortable vetting decisions with stakeholders and keeping teams informed. Drive automation and abstraction, creating tools that increase leverage for the team. Interview Process Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15–30 min, live). A technical screen where you pair in our codebase (1 h, live). Three non‑coding interviews focusing on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (≈3 h 15 min, can span multiple days). Optional additional 30 min recruiter screen. First Three Months Day one you set up your development environment with a single script, push a small product change, and begin onboard through a structured 30‑60‑90 day review process. A peer mentor supports you during this period. Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary and equity; compensation range: $190 K – $275 K. 10‑year exercise window for stock options. Unlimited PTO; we encourage taking time off. Minimum of 12 weeks paid parental leave; longer for international staff.
