This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation by monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial production equipment with a strong focus on electrical systems. The Sr. Electrical Technician II works closely with production operators to understand extrusion and printing processes, ensures equipment reliability, and helps achieve production goals in a safe and efficient manner. The position combines hands-on preventative and corrective maintenance, utility system monitoring, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment failures on industrial manufacturing machinery.
• Perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
• Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Program, configure, and troubleshoot drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs) to support equipment performance.
• Understand, troubleshoot, and support PLC-controlled systems, including basic PLC logic and automation functions.
• Replace and repair a variety of electrical components, including switches, current and voltage meters, AC/DC motors, heater bands, temperature controllers, thermocouples, solenoids, counters, and vector drives.
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot utility systems such as chillers and air compressors to support production operations.
• Support extrusion and printing press operations by ensuring equipment is set up, running properly, and meeting process requirements.
• Perform die changes and related adjustments on extrusion equipment to meet production specifications.
• Operate and maintain related machinery such as bag machines, winder machines, and other extrusion equipment as needed.
• Use basic welding and machining skills to perform minor repairs and fabrication required for equipment maintenance.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely when required for maintenance and production support.
• Collaborate with operators, maintenance personnel, and leadership to identify issues, implement solutions, and support production schedules.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by suggesting process enhancements and maintenance best practices.
• Follow all safety procedures and standards, including OSHA and company-specific requirements, while working on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Document maintenance activities, communicate equipment status, and report recurring issues to support reliability and planning.
• Multitask across multiple pieces of equipment and maintenance requests in a fast-paced production environment.
• Travel occasionally for training or technical support when required by the business.

Essential Skills

• 35 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting experience with industrial machinery and production equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Demonstrated understanding of PLC troubleshooting and basic PLC logic for automation and process control.
• Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency in replacing and repairing electrical components such as switches, meters, motors, heater bands, temperature controllers, thermocouples, solenoids, counters, and vector drives.
• Strong mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on production equipment.
• Experience working with extrusion equipment, printing presses, bag machines, and winder machines or similar machinery.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with operators, maintenance teams, and leadership.
• Dependable attendance and schedule flexibility to meet production and maintenance needs.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to travel when needed for training or technical support.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Basic welding skills for minor fabrication and repair work.
• Basic machining abilities to support equipment maintenance and part modification.
• Experience with automation systems, PLC-controlled processes, and process-control technology.
• Familiarity with temperature controllers, solenoids, vector drivers, chillers, and compressed air systems.
• Comfort working with advanced industrial manufacturing equipment, including extrusion lines and printing presses.
• Forklift operation experience in a production or maintenance setting.
• Ability to perform die changes and set-ups on extrusion equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues.
• Interest in ongoing technical training and skill development in electrical, automation, and process control disciplines.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing production facility with regular exposure to industrial machinery, electrical systems, moving equipment, compressed air systems, and various production processes. Work involves a combination of hands-on equipment maintenance and direct support on the production floor, with frequent interaction with operators, maintenance personnel, and leadership teams. The environment is fast-paced and requires effective multitasking, quick problem-solving, and comfort working around active production lines. The position is physically demanding, requiring standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting throughout the shift. Safety is a core focus, and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards is mandatory. The schedule is a stable first shift, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime, off-shift support, and weekend work based on business needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Garland, TX.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
