Account Manager — Sterling, Illinois

Position Overview

Regional Media is seeking motivated, professional, and results-driven Account Managers to join our Sterling, Illinois sales team.

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing new business, maintaining and growing existing advertiser relationships, and helping businesses throughout the Sauk Valley and surrounding communities succeed through effective advertising and marketing solutions.

Our Account Managers represent Regional Media’s broadcast radio stations, digital advertising products, and promotional opportunities. This is an outside sales position requiring regular face-to-face interaction with local business owners and decision-makers.

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, relationship-oriented, and committed to building a successful career in sales.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

• Prospect and develop new advertising accounts throughout Sterling, Rock Falls, Dixon, and surrounding communities.
• Conduct regular face-to-face sales appointments with business owners and decision-makers.
• Identify advertising opportunities and develop customized marketing proposals.
• Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of new business prospects.
• Meet established prospecting, appointment, and new business revenue expectations.

Account Management

• Maintain and grow relationships with existing advertising clients.
• Develop marketing strategies that support each client’s business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to increase client investment through additional advertising products.
• Provide consistent communication, campaign follow-up, and customer service.
• Work to retain existing accounts while continually developing new revenue.

Advertising & Marketing Sales

• Sell broadcast radio, digital advertising, sponsorships, and promotional campaigns.
• Present creative advertising solutions that demonstrate value to local businesses.
• Coordinate with programming, production, traffic, and digital teams to ensure successful campaign execution.
• Develop proposals, negotiate advertising agreements, and secure new business.

Sales Accountability

• Achieve established monthly and annual revenue goals.
• Maintain accurate and current CRM records.
• Consistently document prospecting, appointments, proposals, and sales activity.
• Participate in regular sales meetings, training, and performance reviews.
• Follow company policies regarding contracts, billing, collections, and account management.

Qualifications

• Previous sales experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable approaching business owners and asking for the sale.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
• Familiarity with the Sterling/Rock Falls and Sauk Valley business community is a plus.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Performance Expectations

Regional Media Account Managers are expected to be active in the communities they serve.

This is not a desk sales position. Successful Account Managers consistently develop new relationships, meet with advertisers in person, follow up on opportunities, and take ownership of their revenue production.

Compensation & Earning Potential

Regional Media offers a competitive compensation package that includes a $36,000 annual base salary plus commission , providing both financial stability and significant earning potential. Successful Account Managers can expect total annual compensation to exceed $70,000 in their first year , with second-year earnings realistically approaching $85,000 to $100,000 as they develop and grow their advertising portfolio. Our commission structure rewards performance, and there is substantial opportunity for motivated individuals to increase their income through new business development and continued account growth. Actual earnings are based on individual sales performance.
