As a Full Time Occupational Therapist at Wyoming Medical Center Central, you will be working Monday - Friday from 8 AM – 4:30 PM shifts with one Saturday a month rotation working a minimum of 7-8 hour shifts per pay period . You will work alongside our skilled multidisciplinary rehab team that is willing to share and learn together. You will work on all the clinical units, including neuro, telemetry, surgical, medical, and ICU. If you're interested in expanding on your skill set this is the opportunity for you. Position Summary This position is responsible for the evaluation, planning, administration, and supervision of occupational therapy treatment in accordance with physician referral, state and local organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. It demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served. Core Functions Evaluate patients' functional abilities and limitations; determine if intervention is needed; establish a plan of care and treatment goals. Complete comprehensive evaluation within the established time frame set by the department. Identify and prioritize key limiting factors. Collaborate with patient and family/caregiver when setting goals. Initiate discharge planning and recommend additions to or modifications of referring orders. Implement individualized treatment plans with consideration to the patient's physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age‑specific needs. Provide skilled treatment in a safe manner. Assess ongoing effectiveness of treatment and modify plan of care as indicated. Involve patient and family/caregiver in the treatment and decision‑making process. Provide ongoing education to physician, nurse, patient, family/caregiver, and interdisciplinary team. Document according to standards set by the department and regulatory agencies. Document legibly. Complete documentation within the established time frames of the department. Document innovative and individualized treatment techniques/plans. Documentation reflects comprehensive assessment of patient's progress or lack of progress. Reassess treatment goals according to department policies. Communicate pertinent patient information to ensure the best possible follow‑through of care. Communicate evaluation/treatment results and patient progress to physicians, nurses, patient, family/caregiver, co‑workers, and the interdisciplinary team. Communicate in a clear and timely manner. Accept responsibility to contact physicians for routine or difficult problem‑solving to ensure optimal patient outcome. Defend treatment rationale with standard practices and/or current literature. Exhibit adaptability in assignments as it relates to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts. Take initiative to assist in other patient care areas and accept responsibility for all patient care needs. Demonstrate appropriate direction and delegation of personnel to achieve safe delivery of quality cost‑effective patient care. Direct delegation of the COTA, Therapy Technician, and student complies with department policies and regulatory agencies. Participate in the training and orientation of new personnel. Assure competency of personnel prior to delegation of task. Participate in department/facility process improvements. Meet productivity standards set by the department. Interact with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies concerning the health care of the patient. Interact with physician offices to report, request, or clarify information. Minimum Qualifications Successfully complete the academic requirements of an occupational therapy program approved by the appropriate governing board. Hold a current Occupational Therapy license from the State of practice. BLS certification required. Demonstrate clinical competency, experience, training, and education required to perform the job through behaviors and answers to job‑related experiential questions. Proficiency with computer software applications commonly used in an automated patient care environment. Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
