Heavy Equipment Mechanic
HiFyve is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the construction repair industry in Bronx, NY!
Salary: $55.18 $60.19/hour
Shift: 1st shift, 7:00am 4:00pm
Location: On-site in Bronx, NY
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment, with a focus on CAT equipment
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs in accordance with service standards
- Utilize diagnostic software and technical documentation to identify and resolve issues
- Plan and execute efficient repair procedures to meet or exceed labor guidelines
- Document all troubleshooting steps, repairs performed, and service communications accurately
- Efficiently use tools, parts, and technical resources to minimize downtime and cost
- Communicate repair status, findings, and recommendations with supervisors
- Follow all safety policies and participate in required safety meetings, audits, and training
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with contamination control initiatives
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical or vocational training in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy construction equipment
- CAT equipment experience preferred
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic skills
- Computer proficiency to run diagnostic software and prepare service documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision
- CDL license preferred
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., work in physically demanding environments, and perform tasks requiring climbing, kneeling, crawling, and extended reaching
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE
