Fitter/Welder

New Tech Global is currently seeking an experienced Fitter/Welder III for a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity in Fort Worth, Texas. This position performs welding and fitting work in a manufacturing environment, ensuring weldments meet specifications, approved welding procedures, dimensional requirements, and fabrication drawings. The role requires strong blueprint-reading skills, knowledge of weld symbols, safe equipment operation, and the ability to complete quality work accurately and efficiently.

  • Perform welding and fitting tasks using FCAW and GMAW processes in horizontal and vertical positions.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication blueprints, dimensions, and weld symbols.
  • Heat-form, fit, and dress metal parts using hand tools, cutting torches, plasma torches, or welding equipment as required.
  • Complete assigned fabrication and welding work according to applicable procedures, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Accurately document required production information and maintain organized work records.
  • Identify technical or production issues and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Safely operate welding machines, cutting equipment, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety practices and procedures.
  • Work effectively with team members while also being able to complete assigned work independently.
  • Support productivity and delivery goals and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of welding/fabrication experience with demonstrated proficiency in the welding field.
  • Experience operating welding equipment in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using cutting torches and plasma torches.
  • Familiarity with SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints, basic engineering drawings, dimensions, and weld symbols.
  • Experience with layout and fit-up of weldments and/or inspection of weldments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to read and comprehend work instructions, correspondence, and basic documentation.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and apply practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and an organized work area.
  • Ability to adapt, cross-train, and multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel, as needed for the position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include heat, noise, and exposure to welding fumes.
  • Must be able to successfully complete required pre-employment screening and applicable welding qualification requirements.
On-Site Test: Candidates selected to move forward must complete an on-site fitment/welding test before an offer is extended. The test includes cutting a piece of metal with a cutting torch and reattaching it while maintaining required dimensions, including one weld using flux-core wire and a second using hard wire. Candidates should allow approximately two hours for the interview and on-site test and must arrive wearing long sleeves, long pants, steel-toed shoes or boots, and safety glasses.
Schedule: Day shift, 6:00 AM-2:45 PM. Overtime is available but is not required.
