Employment Opportunities The City of Overland seeks a motivated individual to serve as a Communication Specialist. Under the general supervision of the City Administrator, the Communications Specialist plans, develops, and implements internal and external communication strategies that inform, engage, and respond to the needs of citizens. This position manages media relations, the City’s website and social media platforms, branding, newsletters, and other communication materials. The role supports community engagement, customer service excellence, and ensures consistent messaging across all City departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in implementing a comprehensive communications, marketing, and engagement strategy for the City of Overland. Assist in creating, designing, writing, and editing various media designed to educate and engage the community, such as City newsletters, City Calendar and other publications. Manage and maintain the City website, ensuring accurate, timely, and accessible content. Coordinate and manage all City social media platforms and external media outreach. Assist and support in the creation and distribution of all public-facing communications, including press releases, digital content, print materials, and advertising as directed. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; or one to two years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
