JOB SUMMARY

The Recruitment Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing HISD's transformational mission by attracting and hiring exceptional talent committed to ensuring all students succeed. In alignment with the district's high-performance culture and values, this position designs and executes strategic recruitment initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and innovation. The Recruitment Coordinator supports HISD's vision of building an elite education workforce capable of driving student achievement, particularly in support of the New Education System (NES) and broader district reform efforts.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leads transformational recruitment efforts that align with HISD's high expectations for instruction and student outcomes, targeting top-tier talent who believe in equity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
2. Develops and implements data-driven recruiting strategies, combining traditional and innovative approaches to attract a mission-aligned, high-quality candidate pool.
3. Partners with school leaders and central office teams to deeply understand current and future staffing needs and tailor recruitment efforts that support each school's success.
4. Builds strong, strategic relationships with universities, educator preparation programs, and community organizations to promote HISD as a destination district for those seeking to make a meaningful impact.
5. Engages in proactive candidate cultivation, using relationship-building and lead generation strategies to create a robust pipeline of top talent committed to student achievement.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

6. Provides consultative support to principals and hiring managers, ensuring they make data-informed hiring decisions that match their unique campus or departmental priorities.
7. Analyzes recruiting outcomes and trends, using insights to continuously improve recruitment strategies, with a focus on quality hires and alignment to the district's strategic vision.
8. Manages sourcing platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Indeed, university job boards), ensuring consistent and compelling presence aligned with HISD's branding as a high-performance, mission-driven employer.
9. Plans and hosts recruitment events, including career fairs and info sessions, to build awareness of opportunities within HISD and engage a diverse talent pool.
10. Supports the hiring and onboarding process, including candidate screening and interviews, to ensure a smooth, professional experience that reflects HISD's culture of excellence.
11. Promotes HISD as an employer of choice through effective use of social media, advertising campaigns, and outreach initiatives.
12. Demonstrates professionalism, urgency, and solution-oriented communication in all internal and external interactions, modeling the values of a high-performance culture.
13. Performs other duties as assigned, in support of districtwide transformation efforts and the goal of ensuring every student receives excellent instruction every day.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree

At least 5 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

Compiles and organizes data and figures.

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems.

Monitors customer service standards.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment, which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

• Valid Texas driver's license with applicable insurance coverage.
• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals
• Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
• Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
• Environment: Prolonged or irregular hours, including some weekends; frequent districtwide travel
• Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress, fast-paced

Availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and Saturdays, based on recruitment and hiring needs .
