About the Role
The Company is in search of a VP, Mortgage Risk (Non-QM) to take on a pivotal role in leading the development and management of mortgage credit policy, underwriting guidelines, and risk strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of lending products, with a strong focus on Non-QM, home equity, closed-end second, jumbo, and portfolio lending. Key responsibilities include owning and maintaining mortgage credit policy, developing guidelines for various lending products, and evaluating new and existing programs to ensure appropriate credit risk controls. The VP will also be tasked with monitoring portfolio performance, delinquency trends, and market conditions, and will be expected to recommend policy changes based on these factors. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, particularly in Capital Markets, Product, Underwriting, and executive leadership, is essential to ensure product saleability and investor alignment. Applicants for the VP, Mortgage Risk (Non-QM) position at the company should have a minimum of 15 years' experience in mortgage lending, credit risk, credit policy, underwriting strategy, portfolio risk, or related functions. A proven track record in developing and managing mortgage underwriting guidelines and credit policies is required, with a strong emphasis on Non-QM mortgage products. The role demands a deep understanding of mortgage credit risk, including various risk factors such as borrower, collateral, occupancy, income, fraud, and portfolio-related risks. Experience in evaluating portfolio performance and recommending policy changes, as well as a strong knowledge of investor guidelines and product saleability, is also necessary. The ideal candidate will have prior leadership experience and the ability to balance risk, profitability, and business objectives when evaluating new products and programs. Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential, as is a hands-on approach to the role.
