Manager of Human ResourcesUnder the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Manager of Human Resources manages assigned human resources services and daily operations for Midland Public Schools. This role supports services throughout the employee lifecycle, HR systems and data integrity, implementation of collective bargaining agreements, employee handbooks, and Board policies, and administration of employee leaves, accommodations, workers' compensation, and unemployment. The Manager of Human Resources coordinates assigned staffing, compensation, personnel budgeting, and employee training processes, develops reports and recommendations to inform leadership decisions, and participates in process reviews to improve efficiency, compliance, and the employee experience.Education: Required - meet one of the following: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; OR Significant progress toward completion of a bachelor's degree in one of these fields, with at least three (3) years of human resources experience demonstrating the knowledge and skills required for the position; Preferred: At least three (3) years of experience in a K-12 public school human resources setting in lieu of educational requirements above. MSBO Human Resources Specialist certification or willingness to pursue certification.Demonstrated Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and Google Workspace. Ability to learn and use district HR, Finance/Payroll, and absence management systems. HR information system and reporting experience is preferred. Ability to interpret and implement collective bargaining agreements, employee handbooks, Board policies, and employment requirements. Ability to develop HR reports, analyze workforce and financial data, and prepare correspondence and procedure guidelines. Ability to create, manage, and use spreadsheet formulas and functions and learn new software.Experience: Human resources experience in a K-12 public school setting is strongly preferred. Experience in a unionized public-sector environment is also preferred. Experience with leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and personnel related budgeting is preferred.Professional and Public Relations Skills: Ability to relate to school age children, parents, employees, and members of the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and policies. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to maintain a calm, professional approach. Ability to manage detailed work, competing deadlines, and frequent interruptions. Ability to exercise independent judgment and apply professional knowledge in human resources, contract administration, employee leaves and accommodations, and budgeting.
