Senior Property Accountant | Luxury Real Estate Developer | Residential, Commercial & Development Projects This is a newly created position with a well-established and growing real estate owner/developer focused on high-rise NYC buildings. Due to their strong pipeline of new development projects and existing portfolio of both commercial and residential assets, they are looking to add an additional member to the team to play a key role in the financial management of the portfolio. The Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, gain exposure across both property-level accounting and development activity, and be part of a collaborative, tight-knit team. Property Accounting Responsibilities: Prepare and review property-level financial statements for a designated real estate portfolio. Perform month-end close procedures and review of monthly reporting package. Prepare, review and analyze property level annual budgets. Prepare workpapers including accruals, prepaid insurance, real estate taxes, bad debt, fixed assets and participate in the annual audits. Record all journal entries and perform bank reconciliations. Supervise the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting associated with the portfolio. Assist with special projects as needed. Project Accounting Responsibilities: Assist with ongoing accounting needs related to development and capital projects. Coordinate and process construction loan draws, ensuring proper tracking and general ledger posting. Handle project-specific accounts payable and receivable. Support project budgeting and forecasting, proactively monitoring costs and identifying potential variances or overruns. Track and manage all project-related expenditures, including subcontractor and vendor invoices, payment processing, and job cost analysis. Experience: Experience in property accounting within commercial and/or residential real estate Exposure to construction, development, or capital projects is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word Experience with MRI or Yardi required Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Compensation $110k-$135k plus benefits, 401k and other perks!
