Staff Accountant – Cash Applications & Accounts Receivable

Fairfield County, CT 4 DAYS IN OFFICE / 1 DAY WORK FROM HOME

Compensation: $70,000 Base Salary + 5% Annual Bonus

Our client, a well-established and growing organization in Fairfield County, is seeking a Staff Accountant – Cash Applications & Accounts Receivable to join its Corporate Accounting team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of cash application, accounts receivable, and revenue-related accounting while partnering closely with the broader finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Process and apply daily cash receipts from customers and intercompany entities
Prepare and post check deposits while maintaining accurate cash activity records
Generate invoices and billing reports
Maintain customer account information and resolve payment discrepancies
Monitor accounts receivable balances and prepare monthly aging reports
Follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances through phone and email communication
Coordinate recurring ACH payment schedules
Perform month-end accounts receivable close activities and reconciliations
Support escrow and receivable-related account tracking
Assist with intercompany billing and cash reporting
Prepare schedules and documentation for audits and management reporting
Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 2 years of accounting or accounts receivable experience
Strong understanding of cash applications, reconciliations, and general accounting principles
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience utilizing ERP/accounting systems (Oracle experience is a plus)
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a corporate accounting environment

Preferred Experience

Intercompany billing
Multi-entity accounting
Hospitality or complex corporate accounting environments
