HVAC Service Technician

Senior TechnicianWe are currently looking for an experienced technical specialist responsible for installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing complex commercial systems, including HVAC units, refrigeration systems, and commercial food service equipment. This role requires advanced troubleshooting skills, strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in field service environments.The Senior Technician also acts as a technical leader, supporting junior technicians and ensuring high-quality service delivery across all assigned jobs.Primary ResponsibilitiesTechnical Diagnostics & RepairsPerform advanced troubleshooting on HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial equipment systemsDiagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system failures using diagnostic tools and schematicsRepair compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, fans, relays, and control boardsPerform refrigerant handling tasks including recovery, evacuation, leak testing, and system rechargingRestore equipment such as walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, ovens, and other commercial appliancesField Service OperationsRespond to scheduled maintenance and emergency service callsConduct on-site inspections, system testing, and performance evaluationsProvide accurate repair recommendations to customers and managementEnsure timely completion of service calls while maintaining quality standardsOperate and maintain company service vehicles and toolsPreventive MaintenancePerform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment systemsClean, adjust, and calibrate systems to ensure optimal performanceIdentify potential system failures and recommend corrective actions before breakdowns occurLeadership & TrainingProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and apprenticesAssist in training new employees on systems, safety, and repair proceduresSupport team members during complex service calls or troubleshooting situationsDocumentation & ReportingComplete detailed service reports, work orders, and maintenance logsDocument parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings accuratelyMaintain compliance records for warranties, service contracts, and inspectionsCommunicate job status updates to dispatch or managementSafety & ComplianceFollow OSHA safety guidelines and company safety proceduresComply with EPA Section 608 regulations for refrigerant handlingEnsure safe operation of electrical, mechanical, and pressurized systemsMaintain a clean and safe work environment at all job sitesRequired Skills & Qualifications5+ years of experience in HVAC, refrigeration, or commercial equipment repairStrong understanding of electrical systems and refrigeration cyclesAbility to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manualsEPA Section 608 Certification (or ability to obtain)Valid driver's license and clean driving recordStrong problem-solving and independent working abilityPreferred QualificationsExperience with commercial kitchen and food service equipmentBackground in low-temperature refrigeration systemsStrong customer communication and service skillsExperience training or supervising junior techniciansAdditional trade certifications in HVAC or electrical systemsWork EnvironmentField-based position with travel to customer sitesWork performed in kitchens, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and industrial facilitiesExposure to varying temperatures and physical working conditionsMay include after-hours or emergency service calls
