Job Summary This position is in the Department of Health (DC Health), HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration (HAHSTA), Division of STD/TB Control. The mission of the HAHSTA is to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD’s, and TB, reduce transmission of the diseases through prevention, and provide comprehensive care and treatment to persons with the diseases so that District residents can live healthier lives. Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Division Chief for STD/TB Control and is responsible for assisting in programmatic and operational activities within the STD/TB Division, one of five programmatic Divisions of HAHSTA. The incumbent is responsible for assisting team members in the provision of services leading toward lowering the overall prevalence and incidence of HIV, TB, and non-HIV Sexually Transmitted Diseases by interrupting disease transmission. The incumbent will interview Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, HIV and TB-positive clients, and at-risk individuals. The incumbent provides referrals and assists clients in navigating specific medical services, which include but are not limited to primary care, mental health, alcohol/substance use, and HIV case management. The incumbent will conduct investigations in clinical and field settings. Qualifications and Education Specialized Experience: Specialized experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. To be creditable, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the line of progression. Bi-lingual candidates are preferred. Licenses and Certifications none Working Conditions / Environment The incumbent must be able to carry out official duties in a variety of settings and conditions. Routine work will occur in office and field settings.Incumbent may be required to: transport infectious and non-infectious clients for medical evaluation and treatment; transport infectious and non-infectious laboratory specimens for testing; submit to annual testing for TB.
