About the role
Nexteer is seeking an accomplished, strategic supply management executive to lead Global Supply Management for the US Division. This role is accountable for shaping and executing the division’s supply management strategy across direct and indirect purchasing, advanced purchasing, supplier quality and development, launch readiness, cost competitiveness, supply continuity and resilience.
As a member of the division leadership team, the Executive Director will translate business priorities into an integrated supplier and sourcing agenda. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial judgment, a manufacturing and quality mindset, and the ability to lead through complexity while building trusted partnerships with suppliers and cross-functional leaders.
This position is located in Saginaw, Michigan, with travel expected based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
• Lead the US Division GSM organization and establish clear priorities, operating rhythms, decision rights, and accountability across purchasing, supplier quality and development, advanced purchasing, launch, and related supply management activities.
• Develop and execute the US Division sourcing and supplier strategy in alignment with global GSM direction, divisional objectives, customer requirements, and financial commitments.
• Drive material cost productivity, commercial recovery, working capital improvement, and total cost optimization while protecting quality, delivery, innovation, and long-term supplier viability.
Supplier Performance & Risk Management
• Provide executive leadership for supplier performance, including quality, delivery, capacity, launch readiness, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and escalation management.
• Ensure sourcing decisions and supplier strategies support new business pursuits, product plans, program milestones, manufacturing requirements, and customer commitments.
• Build strategic relationships with key suppliers and lead high-impact commercial negotiations, executive reviews, and issue resolution.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Sales, Program Management, Legal, and global GSM teams to align priorities and resolve complex business challenges.
• Anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks through disciplined governance, scenario planning, supplier development, and rapid cross-functional action.
Operational Excellence & Talent
• Lead continuous improvement and transformation across GSM processes, analytics, systems, organizational design, and ways of working.
• Develop a high-performing leadership team through talent assessment, coaching, succession planning, capability building, and clear performance expectations.
• Own the US Division GSM operating budget and contribute to business planning, forecasting, and executive-level performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, applicable trade requirements, ethical sourcing expectations, and internal and external audit requirements.
• Represent the US Division in global GSM governance and help shape enterprise-wide strategies, standards, and supplier decisions.
Qualifications
Required Experience
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, supplier quality, supply chain, or a related discipline within a complex manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing a sizable supply management organization, with measurable results across cost, quality, delivery, launch execution, risk management, and supplier performance.
• Executive-level commercial and negotiation experience, including the ability to manage complex supplier relationships and resolve high-stakes issues.
• Strong financial and business acumen, with experience translating business strategy into sourcing priorities, operating plans, and performance commitments.
Leadership Capabilities
• Proven ability to lead across functions and influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed, global organization.
• Experience leading organizational change, building leadership capability, and strengthening succession pipelines.
• Exceptional communication skills, executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely decisions with incomplete or competing information.
Preferred Qualifications
• Automotive or mobility industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience working effectively with global teams and suppliers, with strong cultural awareness and appreciation for diverse perspectives, great sense of diversified culture is preferred.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally based on business needs.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
• Advanced degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.
