Senior Business Analyst Location: Austin, TX / Remote Job Type: Contract Duration: 12 Months Experience Required: 8 Years Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support multiple technology projects focused on major system enhancements and/or software rewrite initiatives. The Business Analyst will serve as the primary conduit between business/customer stakeholders and software development teams, ensuring that business needs are effectively translated into clear, actionable requirements. The ideal candidate will participate throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , from requirements elicitation and analysis through implementation, validation, change management, and post-implementation enhancements. Essential Functions 1. Requirements Elicitation & Analysis Analyze user needs, business processes, pain points, and existing system capabilities to identify opportunities for system improvements and automation. Elicit requirements through interviews, Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, product owners, and development teams. 2. Requirements Writing & Visual Documentation Translate elicitation findings into clear and concise business and functional requirements. Develop: User stories Use cases Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) Business requirements documentation Wireframes Mockups Follow established templates and business analysis best practices. Ensure requirements are unambiguous, well-organized, traceable, and easily understood by technical and business stakeholders. 3. Business Analysis Best Practices & Mentorship Promote business analysis best practices across project teams. Mentor peers and colleagues on requirements development, documentation, and analysis techniques. Proactively identify and participate in relevant professional development and training opportunities. 4. Requirements & Project Tools Effectively utilize tools such as Atlassian Jira and requirements management platforms to support project activities. Manage and track requirements throughout the SDLC. Participate in change control processes. Monitor and communicate requirements status to project stakeholders. Verify that implemented solutions fulfill documented requirements. Candidate Skills & Qualifications Required Qualifications 8 years of experience eliciting requirements through customer/stakeholder interviews and developing well-written system requirements. 8 years of experience working with Software Development Life Cycles (SDLCs). 8 years of experience in business process re-engineering and improving software process flows. 8 years of experience developing user stories and use cases in accordance with business analysis best practices. 8 years of experience designing mockups and/or wireframes following UX best practices. 5 years of demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills. 5 years of demonstrated strong writing and organizational skills.
