LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established organization to identify an experienced Accounts Payable Lead . This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys leading daily Accounts Payable operations while remaining actively involved in invoice processing, reconciliations, payroll administration, and process improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring strong high-volume Accounts Payable experience, payroll administration experience (or the excitement to learn more about payroll!), and the ability to organize and prioritize work while providing guidance and support to a small accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Leadership & Operations

• Lead the day-to-day Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient processing of high-volume invoices and vendor payments.
• Oversee and participate in merchandise, freight, and expense invoice processing, including purchase order matching, receiving verification, and discrepancy resolution.
• Coordinate daily AP workflow and provide direction and support to Accounts Payable team members.
• Maintain vendor records, including W-9s, applications, insurance certificates, and other required documentation.
• Process payments through check runs and other payment methods while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
• Manage Positive Pay notifications and maintain AP records, check stock, and supporting documentation.
• Upload and validate AP data between accounting systems and prepare monthly AP accruals.
• Perform account reconciliations, including:
  • AP Expense to General Ledger
  • Vendor Statements to AP Aging
  • Accrued Purchase Payables to General Ledger
• Reconcile vendor returns and credits to ensure proper recording and recovery of funds.
• Prepare and file annual 1099 forms.

Payroll Administration

• Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare payroll-related journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation.
• Reconcile payroll activity to tax filings and the General Ledger.
• Analyze payroll data and prepare reports for management.
• Support workers' compensation reporting, accruals, and annual audit requirements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee compensation and payroll information.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain petty cash activity.
• Monitor and maintain postage equipment and related supplies.
• Support accounting record retention and document management initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of high-volume Accounts Payable experience.
• Experience within retail, wholesale, manufacturing, distribution, or similar environments.
• Demonstrated experience processing merchandise and expense invoices, including PO matching and receiving reconciliations.
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations is a PLUS
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reconciliations.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with accounting and ERP systems.
• Ability to learn new software applications quickly and effectively.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Counterpoint, or similar systems is a plus.

SALARY-$71-74K
