Business Development Representative

As we continue to serve Houston as the preferred Decorative Concrete partner, we are looking for a Business Development Representative to expand current relationships and initiate new ones that enable us to continue our growth trajectory! POSITION DESCRIPTION The Business Development Representative (BDR) serves in a professional sales and business development capacity focused on the architectural, landscape architecture, engineering, development, and construction communities. This role is responsible for building strategic relationships that position Bomanite Houston as the preferred decorative concrete partner and influencing projects during the earliest stages of planning and design. The BDR works proactively to identify opportunities, educate decision‑makers, and secure Bomanite decorative concrete systems within project specifications before projects reach the bidding phase. RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS Establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, municipalities, developers, owners, and general contractors. Serve as a trusted resource for decorative concrete design, technical expertise, and constructability guidance. Conduct regular client visits and maintain consistent engagement with key industry stakeholders. Develop long‑term relationships that generate repeat specifications and project opportunities. Identify and pursue projects during conceptual planning, design development, and pre‑construction phases. Collaborate with design teams to evaluate, detail, and incorporate Bomanite systems into project specifications. Influence project decision‑makers to consider Bomanite solutions before projects are released for bid. Assist design professionals with product selection, application recommendations, system comparisons, and specification of language. Maintain an active and accurate project pipeline within the company's CRM system. Track projects from initial identification through specification, bidding, award, and construction. Prioritize opportunities based on strategic value, probability of specification, and project timelines. Provide regular forecasting and reporting on pipeline activity and project status. Partner closely with estimating, operations, project management, marketing, and executive leadership teams. Coordinate project information and ensure smooth transitions from specification through construction. Assist in developing client presentations, marketing initiatives, and strategic growth opportunities. Support successful project execution by maintaining clear communication among internal and external stakeholders. IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Leadership – Demonstrated leadership ability. Timely, transparent, direct, and specific. Able to consult with large groups and interact with customers, employees, and others on a one‑on‑one basis. Natural inclination towards client interaction. Persuasive and Tenacious – Must be bright, have a very strong work ethic, persistent and committed. Not fazed by obstacles or initial negative responses. Results‑oriented, driven to succeed, reputation for getting things accomplished. Passion – Love for construction, specifically developing lasting, organic client partnerships. Humility – Humility is expected within the Tellepsen Culture. It must be measured, and the candidate must show confidence through actions and results. There are no "big shots" at Tellepsen. DEFINITION OF SUCCESS Growth in the number of active relationships with targeted architects, landscape architects, engineers, developers, and municipalities. Increased frequency of meetings with key decision‑makers and influencers. Repeat engagement from existing contacts and referral introductions. Increased participation in industry organizations and networking events. Design professionals begin contacting the BDR for guidance before project specifications are developed. QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with architects, designers, developers, engineers, or construction professionals preferred but not required. Knowledge of commercial construction processes and project delivery methods preferred but not required. ANTICIPATED TIME ALLOCATION Houston office, full‑time, and requires regular on‑site presence. This role involves working outside of the office, including client meetings, project site visits, networking events, and industry associations, and other business development activities throughout the market.
