CONTRACT | Legal Secretary

Lawyers on Demand, a Consilio Company, is urgently seeking a contract Legal Secretary to support one of our law firm clients on site in their Century City OR Downtown Los Angeles office. Start: ASAP once interviewed and accepted Pay Rate: $35.00+/hour, open to negotiation Location: hybrid, 3/2, in Century City or DTLA Duration: TBD Responsibilities: Document Preparation: Create a variety of legal documents and/or reports required by the, using Microsoft Word. Format documents appropriately as required by the respective court. General knowledge of e-filings with State and Federal Courts. Proofread, photocopy, assemble and distribute prepared material as necessary. Ability to pull documents in State and Federal. Knowledge of PACER Prepare court documents for filing and make arrangements for messenger or courier service as required (e-filings) (either Superior Court or US District Court). Be able to look up Judge's requirements and prepare service accordingly. Coordinate document production with other secretaries Originate and type a variety of correspondence and memoranda required by the attorneys by using drafts, handwritten notes or oral instructions. Time and Billing: Input and/or edit record of attorneys' billable time into the computer billing system Other functions: Schedule appointments and meetings, depositions, arbitrations, etc.; Responsible for ordering court reporter, interpreter services and reserving conference rooms as needed Calendar all appointments, meetings, arbitrations, depositions trial dates and deadlines Create New Business Intake forms (initial documents) as directed by the Attorneys in compliance with standard firm procedures (now to be done by only one person) Coordinate with Records department the creation of client files and maintenance of same Coordinate travel arrangements as needed Provide overflow assistance when requested Minimum Qualifications 4 years of legal secretarial experience Proficient in computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Excellent attention to details Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and complete them under time constraints Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities of the job LOD is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
