THE PLACE

The Administration Offices for Portland Rescue Mission, located in the south wing of the Shepherd’s Door facility in East Portland, supports the life transforming work of Portland Rescue Mission taking place in 3 ministry sites, 3 transitional houses, 2 vocational training enterprises, and 2 outreach vans. The Staff Ministry (HR) Department is a group of dedicated professionals using their administrative and people skills for life-changing Christian ministry. Our goal is to participate in what God is doing in the lives of the men, women and children we serve at PRM with integrity and excellence. Our department oversees the human resources, internal communication and administration office coordination for Portland Rescue Mission, and our team’s goal is to build and maintain a work environment where highly relational, Christ-centered joyful servants will flourish as part of our staff.

THE POSITION

The Seasonal Receptionist will primarily serves as front desk coverage for Shepherd's Door during Portland Rescue Mission’s busiest season, helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for guests, participants, volunteers, and staff. This role supports the day-to-day administrative needs of Portland Rescue Mission by providing reception coverage, assisting with general office tasks (e.g. sorting mail, in-kind donations, etc.), and helping ensure operations run smoothly.

THE ESSENTIALS

• Serve as primary staffing for the front desk, or oversee volunteers serving the front desk as assigned for available coverage 
• Ensure that all visitors and callers are greeted with warmth, professionalism, and hospitality 
• Ensure incoming calls are answered promptly, and voicemails and emails receive timely responses
• Foster a positive and professional front desk environment that reflects PRM’s values
• Provide excellent customer service to community members, staff, volunteers, and program participants
• Support volunteers and program participants developing real-world administrative and front desk skills as they serve
• Communicate clearly and effectively across the organization
• Keep records, schedules, and office systems organized and up to date
• Assist with general office and administrative tasks to support organizational needs, approaching each responsibility with a servant’s heart and a willingness to help wherever needed
• Demonstrate flexibility and a “no task is too small” attitude in supporting the Administration team and broader PRM needs

BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of continued growth in faith
• Adheres to Portland Rescue Mission’s Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics
• A personal ethos and work ethic that reflects Portland Rescue Mission’s ministry culture – Highly Relational, Christ-Centered, Joyful Servant
• Experience in Mac and Microsoft Windows software
• Perform routine physical tasks including prolonged sitting and standing, frequent use of hands for typing and phone handling, and ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
