Night Supervisor

Salary $16.94 Calendar 254 Purpose Supervises and performs routine custodial work in school buildings and grounds; performs related work asrequired. Performance Responsibilities The primary function of an employee in this class is to supervise and perform routine custodial, maintenance, cleaning, and grounds keeping tasks in school buildings and grounds. Additionally, an employee in this class may be assigned to other maintenance duties in District facilities. The Night Supervisor is the crew leader and supervises Custodian level employees. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Head Custodian; the Night Supervisor also takes direction and suggestions from the building principal and teachers tomaintaina team approach. The primary duties of this class are performed in a public-school building environment and include use of electrically powered cleaning equipment and cleaning substances that may involve related hazards and outdoor work in inclement weather conditions. Essential Duties Exercises on-site supervision, provides direction, and training to custodial staffmembers; Assistsandparticipatesin the documentationprocess; Sweeps and mops floors, including restrooms, classrooms, hallways, offices, multi-purpose rooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias and food preparation areas, science and computer labs, art rooms, music classrooms, meeting rooms, and relatedrooms; Vacuums carpeted floors; strips and waxes floors and shampoos carpets on regular maintenanceschedule; Dusts and wipes off surfaces, including chalkboards andwhiteboards; Cleans and sanitizes restroom areas, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, privacy dividers,wallsandfloors; Maintains supply levels in restrooms, including toilet paper, paper towels, andsoap; Washes walls,windowsand surfaceareas; Empties and cleans trash containers, including transporting bagged waste to outside trashreceptacles; Cleans light fixtures and replacesbulbs; Dustsand cleans airvents; Cleans and polishes mirrors, wood, and other special reflective and decorativesurfaces; Cleans spills, spot cleans carpets, and removes graffiti asneeded; Cleans andmaintainscustodialequipment; Maintains sufficient inventory of cleaningsupplies; Assistsin moving and setting up furniture andequipment; Unloads supplies, paper stocks, books, and inventoryitems; Maintains and regulates HVAC systems through regular changing of air filters inside the buildings, reportsissues; Maintainsgrounds, including sidewalks, parking lots, common areas, and planting areas, by picking up litter and trash, mowing grass, weeding planting areas, andirrigating; Performs snow removal duties, including sanding and saltingwalkways; Locks and unlocks buildings and checks panic bolts tomaintainsecurity and safety and preventvandalism; Performs minor maintenance including, but not limited to, changing light bulbs, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, and classroomrepairs; Sets up and breaks down afterspecialevents; Performs all work duties and activitiesin accordance withDistrict policies, procedures, and safety practices. Other Duties and Responsibilities Performs other related duties asrequired. May berequiredto work before or after regular work hours in emergency situations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: Methods, materials, tools and standard practices of cleaning andmaintainingpublicbuildings; Preparation, use, and disposal of chemical cleaningagents; Appropriate use of cleaning agent for varied surfacetypes; Safety procedures when cleaning and movingfurniture; Methods, materials, tools, and standard practices of grounds and yardmaintenance; Supervisory and employee training methods. Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions and observedepartment policies andprocedures; Operate,maintainand perform minor repairs to powered custodial equipment including, but not limited to, vacuums, strippers, waxers, buffers, shampoocleanersand powerwashers; Operate hand cleaning equipment including brooms, dust and wet mops, dust pans, anddusters; Operate,maintain, and perform minor repairs to grounds keeping equipment including, but not limited to, mowers, edger’s, weed cutters, irrigation systems, blowers, and relatedequipment; Supervise and trainemployees; Communicate effectively with the public and other employees. Qualifications Must have a valid IdahoDriverslicense and a vehicle todriveand/or they must provide their own transportation for job related activities. Thejob relatedtravel during the day will be reimbursed at the approved state mileage reimbursementrate; High school diploma or GED equivalency; and One (1) year school custodial experience preferred; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Essential Physical Abilities Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, whichpermitsthe employee to discern verbal instructions, telephones, and safety warningsounds; Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, whichpermitsthe employee to comprehend written work instructions, discern dirt or marks on surfaces and move in unfamiliarbuildings; Sufficient dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, whichpermitsthe employee to operate cleaning and groundskeeping devices including power equipment, hand equipment, and make adjustments; Sufficient strength tolift upto 70 pounds, maneuver power cleaning equipment, carry objects up to 70 pounds, stand for periods up to four hours, and move between work stationsand job tasks on a singleshift; Sufficient body flexibility and balance to perform cleaning and maintenance operations which require repeated bending and stooping motions, including climbing and working onladders; Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, stamina, and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in areas with only artificial light, to work within a tightly enclosed area such as closets and small offices, to work while exposed to unpleasant odors and with allergenic substances such as cleaning solutions and dust, and to work in a custodial environment; Sufficient attention to concentrate on tasks when distracted and to return to and complete tasks when distracted.
